Apparition No. 1

I thought a story of vampires and damsels in distress,
a story of unsettling dreams and relaxing unknowns,
something that had nothing to do with you.
Afraid of you coming up in my thoughtless words and failing rhymes.

I postponed the feared prose and the dreaded corny verses,
avoided finding you a place among chapters of protest and songs of punks,
tried to bury you in sand and lose you in the grains of sea-softened rocks,
transformed you into characters of someone else's imagination,
the heroes of the Jane Austens and Victor Hugos,
the Megan McAfftertys and the Stephenie Meyers.

But, in spite of my efforts, it was your cold breath what awoke me today,
it was you falling down, diluted as water drops in my shower, through my hair,
it was your smile which made the bath oh so bubbly and warm.

I ignore who you are, that keeps camouflaging between my lines:
you, who broke my heart?
you, who stole my heart?
you, whom I don't know anything about?
you... exceeding my wildest dreams?

It's you whom I desire,
your name in my lipless rhymes.

And I have to wonder if you're coming back while I'm sleep.
Because my dreams seem so empty without you there,
I promise you can leave them like today,
as the sun rises for everyone but us.

Ese parrafo es simplemente sublime!me encanta la metafora de perder a alguien en las rocas suavizadas por el mar... simplemente... tan romantico y tan oscuro como el fondo mismo del mar...
